Can I get an Oxford private hire plate for an imported vehicle?

  • Under 5 years old: A vehicle must be less than five years old from its date of first registration to be licensed for the first time as a private hire vehicle.

  • Under 7 years old: Certain alternative-fuel vehicles (TC59), petrol vehicles (TC48), and diesel vehicles (TC49) meeting the RDE2 standard may qualify if their CO₂ emissions are 110 g/km or less, as shown on the DVLA V5C Vehicle Registration Certificate.

What about imported vehicles?

If your imported vehicle’s V5C does not display its CO₂ emissions, it is your responsibility to obtain the correct official emissions evidence, either from an authorised dealer or a reliable source that confirms the figures for your exact vehicle model and year.

Do not assume that an imported vehicle will qualify just because it is under seven years old. Check its eligibility and documentation with Oxford City Council before purchasing or applying for a plate.

Where can I park for passenger pick-up at Heathrow Terminal 4?

The Terminal 4 main car park is closed for redevelopment for approximately 3–3.5 years. There are currently two available pick-up options:
Option 1: Priority Pick-Up (Ground Floor)

The most convenient option, but significantly more expensive.

  • Up to 10 minutes: £7

  • 11–29 minutes: £14

  • 30–60 minutes: £25

  • Over 60 minutes: £25 for each additional 60 minutes or part thereof

Option 2: Terminal 4 Park & Ride (Recommended)
We recommend using Park & Ride wherever possible.

  • Free parking for the first 2 hours

  • Complimentary shuttle bus every few minutes

  • Approximately 7–8 minutes to the terminal

  • Staff available at shuttle stops to assist passengers with luggage

Advice for drivers: Encourage passengers to use Park & Ride wherever possible. Share the instructional video with customers to help them understand how to use the service.

Some hotels near Heathrow Airport terminals, managed by Euro Car Parks, have introduced drop-off charges. Payment must be made by the end of the same day to avoid possible penalty charges.
